What are love handles?

Love handles are those little rolls of fat that rise above your pants on the side of your body, just above your hips. Both men and women can have these so-called 'love handles' and they can make you quite insecure. Which is enormously the case for myself. It often makes me feel uncomfortable and not feeling well. To get rid of love handles, I have some tips and exercises for you that I have found on a website called 'Blogilates', a lady who really motivated me through her youtube movies and her tiktok movies to get started.

Who or what is Blogilates? Cassey Ho is an award-winning fitness instructor, entrepreneur and personality based in Los Angeles, CA. She is the creator of Blogilates, the # 1 female fitness channel on YouTube with over 500 million video views and 4 million subscribers. As a certified group fitness instructor and Pilates mat and Reformer teacher (ACE, NESTA, Balanced Body), Cassey has been motivating people to move for almost a decade, the magic all started when Cassey started breaking the rules. Combining pop music and her classic Pilates routines, the way Cassey blended the music with the mat was unlike anything the industry had seen before. Students started to crave her innovative choreography because it brought the fun back into sports!

This is my body. As proud as I am, I'm feeling sometimes insecure and uncomfortable. So I decided to start working out. Unfortunately I didn't always have the motivation to continue the work outs and I quited after just two days. The idea I have in my mind, of my body, makes me want to lose some weight. So I started looking out for some exercises that would keep me motivated because they are fun to do. And while I was researching I thouth to myself 'Why do I want this?' and the aswor was simpel... I want to feel comfortable in my body. So I decided to look for exercises that I can handle (exercises that are fun enough to keep doing).

I know that working out will not do the trick. You have to work out also other things like strength training, cardia and nutrition. That's why I will keep the following rules into my mind setting and into my new life!


Skip sugars as much as possible. One of the causes of fat building up in these places is eating sugars and carbohydrates. This is not a nice message, but if you want to permanently get rid of the fat around your hips, you can better exchange your favorite snacks and soft drinks for healthy variants such as fruit and vegetables. This doesn't mean you should never have a cookie again, but healthy food can certainly make a big difference. The lockdown of recent weeks has not really helped either. Because of boredom, I started snacking more often.


Make sure you get enough sleep. Really, sleep is so important for your body and also for all processes related to fat storage. Sleep deprivation can mess up your hormones, constantly making you feel hungry. Often this also makes you eat more and that is exactly what you do not want. In addition, your metabolism slows down, making it more difficult to lose weight and therefore your muffin top.


Do cardio. Cardio is important if you want to lose weight and it is very easy to work into your day. Cardio increases your heart rate, burning calories, causing you to lose weight and ultimately helping to reduce your love handles. What can you do? Walking, cycling, running, jumping rope, swimming or going loose in the gym on the cross trainer. Try to do 20 to 30 minutes of cardio every day and you will soon notice a difference. I already walk a lot, but not intensively. But hey, any move is better than no move.


In addition to cardio, it is very important to train the muscles in your body: this makes you stronger and tighter and your metabolism is faster. And that is exactly what you want. So try out the weight equipment in the gym or try to carefully use weights in your exercises. You will soon notice a difference.


Drink a lot of water. Who drinks a lot of water burns more fat. Fat cells contain toxins (toxins) that are released when you lose weight. The substances will leave your body much faster if you drink 1.5 liters of water. Your body is made up of about 60 percent water, and if that percentage drops by just two percent, your body will begin to dry out, your body functions will decrease, and you will function less well. Drinking water therefore ensures that your fluid balance is maintained and that your body can function optimally. Water contains no calories and quenches your thirst at the same time. Soda can also help with a dry mouth, but 1 glass of cola quickly contains 85 calories. Water soothes your hunger pangs. Your brain sometimes doesn't know the difference between hunger or thirst. In the future, do not immediately grab a snack, but rather drink a glass of water. You will see that "hunger" disappears. Water clears out the toxins in your body and keeps your skin healthy. Drinking plenty of water therefore helps to obtain a beautiful, radiant skin. After a few days you will see that your skin looks less dry and feels much softer than before.
